I feel like I am doing a fair amount of cultivation right now in several area of my life. Obvious to anyone who has perused this blog, I spend a good chunk of time cultivating my garden plot. No matter how many times I go out there, the weeds will come back. I feel likeContinue reading “Cultivation”

Overton Park Conservancy
As I mentioned, Greg and I are putting our money where our hearts are so last week we joined the Overton Park Conservancy. When we got married in 2011, we lived in an apartment right at Poplar and Cooper, which made Overton our front yard. The view out of our front window was the tee box forContinue reading “Overton Park Conservancy”
Atlanta without a kiddo
This weekend I spent a rocking twenty-four hours in Atlanta. My dear friend Caitlin is getting married in September, and Cal and I are two of her bridesmaids. So the two of us left after Cal finished her day of rotations and Greg got off of work on Friday afternoon. We drove to Jasper, AL andContinue reading “Atlanta without a kiddo”

Putting our money where our hearts are
Greg and I love Memphis. We actively choose to make this city our home. We didn’t land here by accident or decide to stay out of a misguided sense of anything. We are here for many reasons–family, friends, work, opportunities, and combinations of the aforementioned reasons that are only possible here. Part of living hereContinue reading “Putting our money where our hearts are”
Summer walks
This weekend we made the trip to Nashville to hang out with the Carricos. Baby slept terribly; parents had groggy grown up time.Continue reading “Summer walks”
Summer
It makes me smile–this whole first week of summer thing. I live in Memphis. We are in planting zone eight, next to a giant muddy river, at the beginning (or end depending on your geographic perspective) of the Delta. It is HOT here. And it’s MUGGY. Since summer starts as soon as you have toContinue reading “Summer”
Garden envy
I’ve got a mild case of garden envy. Lots of the other gardeners have beautiful plots. No weeds. Huge plants. Our plot has weeds, but not as many as it did a few days ago. I suppose the real victory is that we concurrently are finding a way to garden and be parents. Right?
Flips
My baby just flipped back to front for the first time. We were playing on the floor, and I think I took a thirty second nap. When I opened my eyes, he was on his stomach. He had this look on his face that said, “Watch out, mommy. You may not want to blink.”
