Humanities in Action: Building a Better Future, 2024

In April 2024, I began hosting a podcast for Humanities Tennessee. Humanities in Action  is a podcast about the work being done today to create a more empathetic and connected future. Through interviews and researched stories, we’ll share Tennesseans’ visions for the future and the programs, decisions, and choices they are making today to bring those futures to life.

Memphis Bocce Project, July 2023

From late spring through mid-summer, I participated in the inaugural Tennessee Folklife Institute, a program of the Tennesse Arts Commission Folklife Program in partnership with Humanities Tennessee. In addition to learning about folklife foundations, fieldwork techniques, and presentation options, we each created a folklife project based. Mine was about the history and continued importance of bocce at the Memphis Italian Festival. My sincerest thanks to Steve Mitchell, Ricky Bursi, Kent Hansom, Mike Fletcher for talking to me before the festival.
